Chromosome – a strand of DNA.
Gametogenesis – the
production of gametes, which is a
special cell which fuses with
another gametes during fertilization
in sexually reproduction organisms.
Imprinting Centre - controls
the imprinting of the genes in the
imprinted region
Imprinted Region - a region
which is expressed by only either
the maternally or paternally
contributed chromosome whilst the
other one remains inactive.
Meiosis – cell division found
in sexually reproduction organisms
in which the number of chromosomes
in the daughter cells goes from
diploid (a pair of each chromosome)
to haploid (only one of each
chromosome).
Nondisjunction – the failure
of chromosomes to correctly separate
during cell division leading to an
abnormal number of chromosomes in
the daughter cells.
Phenotype – the physical
appearance of an organism.
Trisomy – three copies of the
chromosome are present, instead of
the normal two.
